HAMPTON, IOWA -- "Mission Accomplished!" announced Hampton State Bank President and CEO Brad Davis, referring to the bank's Come Home to Franklin County® program at a news conference March 26, 2010.
Come Home to Franklin County® has been an unqualified success and has achieved its initial $1 million goal. A total of $1,445,153 has been loaned to 18 households. These former residents now live in Franklin County, pay property taxes, use the county's medical facilities, attend school, shop in local businesses, and more than likely are volunteering in some of the many organizations that strive to make Franklin County an even better place to live.
In the fall of 2005, Hampton State Bank launched its unique economic development initiative, Come Home to Franklin County®. The program offered $1 million in below market rate loans and other financial benefits to graduates of high schools located in Franklin County -- West Form (formerly SCMT), Hampton-Dumont, and CAL Community School, approximately 6,800 individuals -- to entice them to return to live in Franklin County.
"We are very pleased to know that this program impacts not only the lives of the individuals who are taking advantage of this program," stated Davis, "but that Come Home to Franklin County® is benefiting Franklin County as a whole."
According to Davis, Joel and Stephanie McWilliams' decision to take advantage of Come Home to Franklin County® put the program over its initial $1 million goal.
Now that the initial goal has been surpassed, Davis also announced that Hampton State Bank is committing a second $1 million to its Come Home to Franklin County® initiative effective immediately.
Joel and Stephanie are both graduates of Hampton-Dumont Community School, Joel in 2003 and Stephanie in 2002. Joel went on to graduate from NIACC and is an officer on the Hampton Policy Department. Stephanie is also employed in Hampton. As Joel and Stephanie noted, "Hampton State Bank's Come Home to Franklin County® program made returning to our hometown easy. We heard about the program from our parents, and were thrilled because the program's benefits helped make it financially possible. Since we grew up in Franklin County, we knew about all the nice things the county has to offer. We always had in our minds that we would like to come home. Our family still lives in Hampton and it is important for us to be close to family. The staff at Hampton State Bank made everything easy for us and were extremely professional and patient throughout the process. Thank you, Hampton state Bank, for helping us "Come Home!"
Now that the intial goal has been surpassed, Davis also announced that Hampton state bank is committing a second $1 million to its Come Home to Franklin County® initiative effective immediately.
