As President
and CEO of Hampton State Bank since 1993, Brad Davis joined Hampton
State Bank in 1980, following in the footsteps of his father, Ivan,
who began in the industry in 1961, and his grandfather, who began
banking in 1929 and purchased stock in Hampton State Bank in 1937. All three were born in Franklin County and developed
strong ties to the area with a deep sense of pride in their
communities. Today, Hampton State Bank remains the only
financial institution in Franklin County where the president
actually works in the bank day to day and is also an owner of the
bank.
Although
Brad's career path was headed in a different direction than banking
following graduation from the University of Iowa and interning in
industrial relations for the City of Iowa City, he returned to
Hampton because, "I have deep roots here in Hampton and
Franklin County," says Davis. "Working on the bank's
investment portfolio early in my banking career, I saw the potential
for Hampton State Bank's ability to help this town and this county
grow."
Under his
leadership, the bank has undergone several culture developments,
including assuring credit quality, fostering volunteerism among
employees and the effective use of technology. Most recently,
as the number of independent banks has declined with corporate bank
buyouts, takeovers and mergers, Davis is leading an effort to develop
more effective relationships among employees and customers.
Brad graduated
from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Economics. He also holds degrees from the Iowa School of
Banking, the University of Oklahoma from the National School of Bank
Investments and from the Graduate School of Funds Management,
Graduate School of Banking from the University of Wisconsin.
Brad has held several leadership positions with the Iowa Bankers
Association, American Bankers Association and Iowa Business Growth
Corporation. Brad is a recipient of the 2001
Rising Star Banker for Iowa, numerous marketing awards, George F.
Hixson Fellow Award through Kiwanis Club International and the Dale Carnegie
Highest Award for Achievement.
Within the
community of Hampton, Brad is a treasurer of the Hampton-Dumont
Achievement Foundation and is a member of the Kiwanis Club of
Hampton. He also serves as the Salvation Army Regional
Treasurer.
Brad and his
wife, Peggy, have four children, Kate, Andrew, Matthew and Michael.
