PRIVACY POLICY 

Our pledge to you -- At Hampton State Bank, we fully believe that maintaining the confidentiality of our customer's information is at the core of our relationship with our customers.  Therefore, our Board of Directors has adopted these Privacy Principles to govern our commitment to you, our customers, that we will protect the trust you have placed in us. 

We understand -- We understand that you expect the information about you that you have entrusted to us will be handled appropriately.  You should, therefore, be confident that we do not sell or share your confidential information with any company that is not affiliated with us for purposes of that company marketing their products to you.  We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as permitted by law.  If you decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices described in this policy. 

Handling your information -- We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you.  Employees who violate these standards will be subject to disciplinary measures.  We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information. 

Use, collection, and retention of your information -- We collect and retain information about you only when we reasonably believe that the information will assist us in our business and in providing products and services to our customers.  We may also collect and retain information to protect your accounts and identify you, to comply with certain laws and regulations, and to aid in the development or improvement of our products and services.  We collect nonpublic personal information from you in the following ways: 

  • Information that you provide on applications to us for products and services.

  • Information that we receive in response to a request that we make to third parties about our customers, particularly in the process of evaluating applications for loans.

  • Information that we receive from credit reporting agencies, commonly known as credit bureaus.

  • Information that we receive from processing customers' accounts with us and the transactions in those accounts, such as deposit and loan accounts.

Accurate information -- We strongly believe that it is in our best interest, as well as yours, to maintain information that is as accurate as possible.  Therefore, we have established procedures to assure that our customers' information is accurate, current, and complete in accordance with commercial standards.  While some procedures are required by federal or state law, we also have procedures for responding to requests to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner, and to update information and remove old information.  Customers should immediately notify our privacy experts, Ron Raney or Sheril Brodbeck, or at 641-456-2559, 800-749-6209, PO Box 119, Hampton, IA 50441-0119 if they receive information regarding their relationship with us that they believe to be inaccurate. 

Our security procedures -- We have adopted commercially reasonable security standards and procedures regarding access to your information.  We will continue to update and test our security systems and procedures so that your information is secure and safe from unauthorized access. 

Providing your information to others -- We do not sell or share customer information to unrelated third parties for their own use and purposes.  We do share information with companies that work for us.  For example, we may share information with companies that print checks for us or provide other processing services.  These companies are acting on our behalf when they provide these services and are obligated by contract to maintain the confidentiality of the information we provide.  They are NEVER authorized to use the information for any other purposes. 

We will only release your information: 

  • When you authorize us to release information.

  • To companies that perform marketing services on our behalf.

  • To credit bureaus.

  • To other parties when it is necessary or helpful in completing a transaction, including other financial institutions or networks involved in processing your transactions.

  • To comply with a law, regulation, court order or subpoena.

  • In response to an inquiry about current sufficient funds to cover a check you have written.

  • To local, state and federal authorities if we believe a crime may have been committed involving your account.

  • To paying agencies, such as the Social Security Administration, after the death or incapacity of a recipient or beneficiary of recurring direct deposits.

  • To our independent auditors, consultants or attorneys, and to our regulators. 

In addition, at your request we will put your name on a "do not call" list, excluding you from telephone solicitations by Hampton State Bank or any of our affiliates.  To do this, please mail your request to us in writing at PO Box 119, Hampton, IA 50441-0119. 

Our web site -- Visitors to the Hampton State Bank web site at www.hamptonstate.com remain anonymous.  We do not collect personal identifying information about site users, unless you choose to provide such information to us.  Standard software is used to collect and store ONLY the following non-identifying information about our visitors:   

  • The name of the domain from which you access the internet (i.e. your internet service provider).

  • The date and time you access our site.

  • The internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site.  

Visitors may elect to provide us with personal information via e-mail.  This information is used internally, as appropriate, to handle the sender's request and manage the Hampton State Bank web site.  It is not distributed or sold to other organizations.  Visitors should, however, keep in mind that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception.  If you do not agree with the use of this information, or are not comfortable with the level of privacy, please use the clear button in on-line forms or cancel an e-mail before it is sent.  Visitors should call us directly at 641-456-2559 or 800-749-6209 if requests or statements include sensitive or private information, such as your accounts numbers, credit card numbers, or social security number.  Hampton State Bank will NEVER ask for your Personal Identification Number (PIN) for your Hampton State Bank ATM or Quick Check card.  If you are asked for this information, please call us at the above numbers and report it to a customer service representative immediately.
