Hampton
State Bank announced at a news conference
on November 18 that it will commit $1
million to attract former Franklin County residents back to the
area. The "Come Home to Franklin County®" campaign
promises home and car loans at 3.9 percent, a free personal
computer, and free use of many bank products for people returning to
work and live in Franklin County.
"Hampton State Bank is sincerely interested in our
communities’ growth and development. We’re working proactively
to welcome our former residents back home to Franklin County,"
said Brad Davis, Hampton State Bank President & CEO.
In a first-of-its-kind economic development initiative, Hampton
State Bank is working to defy a statewide trend and create greater
incentive for alumni from area high schools, Sheffield-Chapin-Meservey-Thornton
(SCMT), Hampton-Dumont, and CAL Community, to make their homes in
Franklin County.
Through December 2006, Hampton
State Bank has committed $1 million in loan funding to support "Come
Home Loans," and will
work with area employers to help promote job and career
opportunities in attracting past high school graduates of any age to
return to the community. People must have graduated from a Franklin
County high school and are returning to live in the county to
qualify for Come Home to Franklin County® benefits. The home
loan and auto loans are subject to credit approval, some
restrictions apply, and rates are variable and may change.
"The only topics being discussed at the state level seem to
be tax incentives for young people. We feel that we can have a much
greater impact by tackling the challenge at the local level, and
implementing a program that focuses on making Franklin County an
attractive residence option for area alumni of all ages," said
Hampton State Bank Vice President and Cashier Donnis Borcherding.
