LOOKING BACK ...

1900 --Early in the 20th century, local residents did business with Franklin County State Bank, which occupied the same site as the present Hampton State Bank main office.

1934 - When Franklin County State bank closed, a citizens' committee made visits to depositors, asking them to keep their funds in the newly organized Hampton State Bank.  On January 18, the bank's Articles of Incorporation were approved.  On February 3, Grand Opening celebration activities were held in the newly remodeled building.

1930-1950 - Inside the teller cage, staff members used the two adding machines to balance all of the transactions at the close of each day.  Outside the teller cage, mothers did their banking while their children waited on the leather seats by the wall.  For men, spittoons were conveniently located throughout the lobby.
